Avira Antivirus Premium Review

Avira Antivirus Premium is a powerful suite that includes antivirus, firewall and web protection, and privacy-related features. The yearly subscription is affordable at just $100 for five devices, and monthly billing options are available.

Avira’s streamlined and straightforward interface makes it easy to use. You can do a Smart Scan (checking for malware, privacy and performance issues) right away or click Security in the left-hand panel for more options.

The Modules section, which appears if you click the button in the bottom left corner, offers options to turn on or off real-time protection, firewall, and web protection. There’s also a pop-out menu for quick and custom scans, and a system log.

You can schedule a scan on a daily, weekly or monthly basis using the Manage Scan tab, and it’s easy to see when scans have already taken place. There’s also a Quarantine tab that shows all the files that have been locked up for bad behavior.

Privacy is one of the most important things a good antivirus should do, and Avira is committed to keeping your data secure. The app doesn’t share your information with third parties, which is a requirement under German law.

There are plenty of other useful tools, including a disk cleaner, performance profiles and an autostart manager. These help you speed up your computer and optimize it for maximum productivity. And if you need a bit more protection, Avira Antivirus Pro adds Web and Mail Protection, which can help protect against phishing websites, malicious downloads and email attachments.
